Dear Parents,

As the school year begins, I want to share the following information with you.

In early February parents received a survey.  This survey asked for parent response to three questions around school uniforms.  The survey was sent to families with students in grades K-4.  Results from the survey are as follows:
                                   
                                                74% YES
                                                24% NO
                                                2% undecided

The parent group hosted numerous meetings including an evening meeting to hear and discuss your input and concerns.  The superintendent, Dr. Paskewicz has given approval for the wearing of uniforms at North Star for the 2008-09 school year.  This will be a transitional year for all students with the hope that we will have 100% of our families on board during the 2009-2010 school year.

Parents who attended the meetings decided on the following colors:
            Bottoms – navy and khaki pants, shorts or skirt
            Tops – white and navy short or long sleeve polo
The above colors can be worn in any combination and uniforms may be purchased at any Wal-Mart, Kmart, JC Penney, Dillard’s, Sears, Target, as well as thrift stores.
